Inclement Weather
Inclement Weather Policy
In the event of inclement weather, ALL locations will follow the decision of Prince George’s County Community College. If the school system is closed or closes early, our facilities will be closed. If the school system opens late, there will be no affect to our classes. Saturday classes are also subject to this policy.
Follow PGCC’s announcement on all major news networks or use the above link to be notified directly. Do not call the school or union hall to determine if the schools are open or closed. Union sponsored events are not subject to this policy.
Current Apprentices
All apprentices are encouraged to become familiar with
Apprentice School policies to avoid disciplinary action. Below are some useful links and information
for your benefit.
Report Cards
Apprentices are required to turn in monthly job evaluations,
also known as “report cards.” The
previous months’ report card is to be turned into the apprentice office by the
7th of each and every month, year round. Report cards may be hand carried, faxed,
mailed or emailed (please see the office contact information above or email
your report cards and report card concerns to ReportCard@602training.org). Apprentices that become delinquent with
turning in their report cards are in violation of the Standards. Apprentices that fail to turn in their report
cards will be summonsed to appear before the Committee for disciplinary action.
Report cards must be turned in regardless of employment
status. An unemployed apprentice must
turn in an “Unemployment Report Card” each month as if they were employed.

Attendance
Please keep in mind that failing to be prepared for your
classes may be counted as an absence.
Tardiness and leaving early from class will also not be tolerated.
There are no excused absences from class.
If you are having trouble with your attendance, you are
encouraged to talk to the Training Director or Assistant Training Directors.
Employment
Apprentices are not permitted under any circumstances to
solicit (to appeal for, to entice or lure) their own job.
A contractor is not allowed under any circumstances, to
solicit (to appeal for, to entice or lure) an apprentice to work for them.
In the event that an apprentice is laid off (RIFed) or
terminated, the apprentice is to immediately report to the apprentice office at
8421 Ardwick Ardmore Road in Landover, MD to see the Training Director or one
of the Assistant Training Directors for their next job assignment or further
action.
School Calendar
All apprentices are given a school calendar at the beginning
of the school year. Your calendar is a
very useful tool that shows things such as the dates of classes changing and
the notice of classes/events you may be required to attend. You should keep your calendar in a safe and
accessible place because you will be held responsible for the information on
it. Please check it frequently.
A copy of the calendar for the upcoming school year will be
posted as soon as it is available.
