ELECTION NOTICE
Vacancy Election of Medical Fund Trustee (1) and Pension Fund Trustee (1)
Please read this notice thoroughly as the process per Article V, Sec. 1 – 4 of our Local Union’s Bylaws for filling “Vacancies in Local Offices” differs from our normal election process.
The purpose of this notice is to advise that vacancies have arisen in the positions of Trustee on the Heating, Piping and Refrigeration Medical Fund (the “Medical Fund”) and Trustee on the Heating, Piping and Refrigeration Pension Fund (the “Pension Fund”). One Trustee position is available for each Fund.
Nominations for one (1) Medical Fund Trustee and one (1) Pension Fund Trustee were conducted at the May membership meeting, that was held on May 3, 2022 at 5:30pm at 8509 Ardwick-Ardmore Road, Landover, MD 20785.
The election will be held by secret ballot prior to the June membership meeting on June 7, 2022. Polls will be open on June 7, 2022 between the hours of 12 PM and 4 PM at 8509 Ardwick-Ardmore Road, Landover, MD 20785.
The Trustees will be elected for the remainder of the current term, which is scheduled to end with the election of new Trustees in June 2027.

Eligibility to Vote: No member is eligible to vote unless he or she has been a member in good standing in Local 602 for a period of one (1) year immediately prior to June 7, 2022. Any member who owes or has paid a reinstatement fee within a period of one (1) year immediately prior to June 7, 2022 shall not be eligible to vote in the election. In addition, as provided by Section 160(a) of the UA Constitution, any member who has entered business legitimately for himself or herself, or who holds a financial interest in any business directly connected with the plumbing and pipe fitting industry, shall not have the right to vote in any election unless six (6) months have passed since the member has terminated his or her business or financial interest in such business. As provided in Section 148(b) of the UA Constitution, apprentice members who satisfy the foregoing requirements shall be eligible to vote if they have successfully completed their third apprenticeship year as of June 7, 2022.
The counting of the ballots will take place prior to the membership meeting on June 7, 2022. All results will be announced at the June 2022 Regular Union Meeting, to be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at 5:30 p.m. at the UA Mechanical Trades School, 8509 Ardwick Ardmore Road, Landover, MD 20785.
Tie Vote: In the event of a tie vote, the winner will be chosen from among the candidates who are tied for first place by means of a runoff election will be conducted. In such an event, the runoff election will be held prior to the July membership meeting on July 5, 2022, from 12 PM to 4 PM, at 8509 Ardwick-Ardmore Road, Landover, MD 20785.
