Steamfitters UA Local #602 represents the Journeymen, Apprentices and Helpers, who work in the Heating, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Process Piping Industry in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area.

We are pleased to welcome you to our website and hope you will take the time to browse through it and learn about the many advantages and benefits of being a member of our Local Union. Our members have installed, repaired and maintained heating, air conditioning, refrigeration and process piping systems in the Nation’s Capital and its surrounding areas for over 100 Years. We have provided and continue to provide these services in a variety of different Buildings and/or Facilities across the Metropolitan Area.
     
Customers, who have relationships with our Local Union, know that Local 602’s members provide an invaluable service, with the highest degree of professionalism, when called upon for whatever their needs may be.

ATTENTION MEMBERS AND CONTRACTORS: IMPORTANT REMINDER - (1/20/2017)

We want to remind both the Members of Steamfitters Local 602 and our Signatory contractors of the language in Article XVI, Paragraph 80, which refers to the notification required when hiring a member thru solicitation and the requirement of obtaining a referral from the Union Hall, prior to beginning employment. Please see the specific language below:

“80.  Unemployed journeymen pipefitters are required to register with the Union referral office when seeking employment through that office.  Unemployed journeymen pipefitters satisfying the requirements set forth in this Agreement are free to solicit employment.  When an Employer hires an Employee who solicits his job as set forth in this paragraph, the Employer shall notify the Union that the Employee has been hired by calling, writing, emailing or faxing the Union referral hall within 24 hours. The Union shall issue a referral to the Employer.  Failure to receive the referral slip shall not delay the employment of the Employee. Failure to notify the Union in a timely fashion as set forth herein can be grieved by the Union before the Conference Board as set forth in Article XII.”
